2011 World Series of Poker main event winner will receive a top prize of $8.7 million. A total of 6,865 players entered this year, the biggest event in poker , and one player will walk away with a boatload of money and the most prestigious bracelet of all.
This years world series has become the third-largest tournament in WSOP history (the 2006 and 2010 WSOP main events were larger).The turnout has been the most commonly discussed item at the WSOP among players, fans and the tournament staff. After “Black Friday,” it was assumed that the WSOP would struggle to find the players as a significant amount of money was locked up in poker sites. To make sure the tournament was successful the WSOP offered as many satellites to the Main Event as possible. The strategy paid off making this years WSOP a huge success already.

As a whole, the 58-event tournament series attracted 75,672 entries, creating the largest prize pool in WSOP history: $191,999,010. For the seventh consecutive year, the WSOP generated a total prize pool of more than $100 million.
